Diego asked: What is the most rewarding thing about creating movies in a virtual environment?

Phaylen's reply to Diego: The most rewarding thing is most certainly the satisfaction one gets after completing a project. I'm sure this is the case in any field; for writers it's that satisfaction when finishing a book. For someone who likes to knit, it's that moment you complete that final stitch and spread it out to take it all in. From the moment you take that first shot, everything you do afterward is in pursuit of the completion. It's amazing to watch something come together, and that feeling you get in the afterglow is quite addictive!

Whimsey asked: Granny panties or thongs? (lol that one cracked me up)

Phaylen's answer to Whimsey: I'm all about forging my own path instead of following ones already made. In an effort to restore long lost trends, I'm all about the Care Bear Under-Roos.

Evangeline asked: What are the titles of the movies you worked on besides Divas?

She discussed everything from Modavia Fashion Marketing and what it takes to be part of the team to the highly successful Modavia Fashion Week 2010 which all fashionistas are still talking about long after the event is over. There were some wonderful questions sent in but 45 minutes went by so quickly that we were not able to get the questions asked live on air. Once again we appreciate all of our listeners and we apologize for time not permitting the questions live on air.

Poptart agreed to answer the questions and allow us to post them here on our blog for all of you eager listeners. We understand how busy she is and definitely thank her for her time!

Question/Answer Segment:

Jilly: I know alot of us lately have been saving our Lindens did the sluggish SL economy affect Fashion Week in anyway? Or do you feel the economy affects Modavia and projects you are currently involved in?

Poptart: Well yes and no. I think designers are being more careful with their marketing spend at the moment. But it seems large industry events like Modavia Fashion Week are still being prioritised. I believe the opportunity to showcase the best of SL couture design to the grid (and beyond..) is seen as a worthwhile investment by most designers. But you are right ... sales of high end couture have been hit by the current economic climate with some talented smaller designers being forced to re-evaluate their strategy or face closure. This is one of the reasons that Modavia makes an effort to support and to help to promote emerging designers through these kinds of events and subsidized advertising in the Modavia Fashion Directory. We will also be awarding rent free stores on MODAVIA II to selected designers in a new initiative which will be unveiled soon.

Monica: SL and RL aren't so far removed as they once were. Do you see Modavia working with RL designers in the future and if yes what capacity? Would you bring them into SL?

Poptart: Well the most obvious difference between the two worlds is that a totally different economic model is in place in the industry. In real life couture costs an arm and a leg... consumers buy carefully and place a much higher value on their purchases. In SL fashion is very affordable for almost everyone and this makes it disposable and leads to an insatiable appetite for the latest novelty. I feel rather sorry for designers here really – they put so much work into their creations and they’re “old” very quickly. Not true of all of course – there are those classic pieces that people will wear forever... those must have staples that we all have in our wardrobes.
The other main difference is of course the seasons... in RL fashion is always 6 months ahead to cater for the lead time that buyers require to get the right season’s clothing into the stores at the right time. But here we work on a different calendar.... So when we run our Fall Fashion Week in SL.. in reality the RL events are all showing Spring/Summer 2011. I think if I asked SL designers to design 6 months ahead they would not be too enthused..
Having said that, we already have several RL fashion designers in SL - a good example is Nyla Cheeky of House of Nyla - she releases her RL and SL collections together. Another example is Exclusiva (formerly VictoriaV). So RL/SL crossover does happen and I do expect to see more of it. Modavia has been approached by RL designers from time to time to guide their entry strategy into SL but nothing has, as yet, progressed beyond an exploratory stage.

Edwin: Modavia seems to focus alot on women will there ever be an all male event?

Poptart: Uh you are perfectly correct. I wish you weren't but you are. We are very focussed on female fashion and one of our priorities now is to grow the coverage of men's design more. It's harder work attracting the designers who cater for men it seems and we haven't quite cracked it yet. Fair comment.

We had so much to cover with Rebecca and so many questions from listeners that we didn't quite get to cover them all, so we're going to add a supplement here!

A few questions from our listener, Kristopher:

Q: I find your photo eye fascinating. Looking at your website you take everyday things and make them extraordinarily beautiful. Is that something you are just gifted with or did you train yourself some how?

A: Thank you for your compliments. One of the things I try to do with my photography is make people view every day occurrences in nature in a different way. I want to show a different way to look at the world around us; so that next time you see a buttercup you think twice about stepping on it. I wouldn't say that I had any training specifically to learn how to how to take this type of photo. Art has always been a big part of my life, and I think growing up surrounded by it has helped me develop my talents. Of course I've had many mentors who have taught me a great deal and influenced my work, but I would say that for the most part what I do is based on my own gift.

Q: I see you have lots of color comp. shots but I find the few black & white winter shots the most compelling. Is your preference color or are they simply the best selling?

A: I definitely prefer color. Though they make look black and white, those photos are actually shot on color film. When I shot portraits, I used to do them in black and white because I feel like that shows emotion in people. For what I do now though, I think it has to be done in color. Color is vital to the content I shoot, and the color distortions are one of the unique features of the Holga camera. Color is even a big part of my personal identity-- I don't even own any black clothing! I couldn't imagine my art without color.

Q: Do you have any additional projects or interests in SL?

A: Well, so much of what I do has always been solo work, but as I said before, Second Life is a lot about community, and I've found it so easy to meet and work with people from all over the world here. I mentioned previously how much I love the plants not only for their photographic qualities, but also because of what they offer humans, be they edible, medicinal, etc. I hope in the future to collaborate with SL gardener/plant makers to combine my art with their three dimensional representations. I hope to offer the people of SL the chance to see the plants this way and learn about how valuable they are to us. As for other interests in SL, I would really love to get into landscaping. I see plants and trees that people have created and I see that they are really art as well. I would love to use my aesthetic skill to help create beautiful virtual landscapes using these components. I'm also learning to make clothing. I have a friend teaching me the basics and I am really enjoying getting to use parts of Photoshop that I don't normally use with my photography. I'm also excited about my recent purchase of Poser. I have always been interested in animation in Second Life, and I would love to make some of my own. The program is a bit complicated though, so I think I may have to take a class before I can really get into it. I think the beauty of Second Life is its creative potential, and I am always looking to explore every bit of my own by taking advantage of the opportunities offered here.

This past weekend, I attended the Victim Show with my best friends and we all had a blast.

The ‘Victim’ show is a production of Epoque created to present its new clothing collection in a unique environment. The show runs about an hour long and features the music of Lady Gaga. It is a full on concert experience with performers wearing pieces from the collection.

Modavia Productions Announces Show Dates for Modavia Fashion Week .....September 9-16, 2010

June 30, 2010 – Modavia Productions, the fashion show production division of Modavia Fashion Marketing, will host Fashion Week 2010. This week of fashion shows will feature a preview of the new Fall and Winter collections from some of SL's best couture designers.

This is the second Fashion Week produced by Modavia and, as in 2009, will be held in conjunction with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week taking place in New York City at the same time. The event last year, set in Bryant Park SL, was well attended and attracted an unprecedented level of media coverage.

A broad range of men’s and women’s couture fashion designs will be showcased in shows which begin on September 9 and run through September 16. A total of 35 designers will be represented in Modavia Fashion Week 2010 in 4 to 5 shows daily, beginning at noon SLT at a new Modavia owned, purpose built multi-sim venue. In addition to the fashion shows, participating designers will have on-site boutiques, offering unreleased designs seen in their shows, and there will be exclusive gifts offered to attendees by many of the sponsors.

Each day thousands of animals are losing their lives and their ocean homes are destroyed. The natural environment has taken a huge hit as a result of this oil spill. The consequential damages will be seen for years to come, there is no way of measuring the extent of the wildlife that could possibly be lost forever. The detrimental affects to the circle of life are unforeseeable. Animals and plants are not the only ones affected by this disaster. This economic disaster affects mankind in various ways. People who work in the seafood industry are losing their jobs not to mention the health risks that will eventually come from people eating contaminated food from the oceans. Fisherman who strive to keep their jobs would have to relocate which is not an option for most people. Not many can pack up and move their entire family therefore the unemployment rate will increase. The devastation of this spill goes beyond the ocean and the people who live near the contaminated areas. This spill affects us all and Operation Squeegee is a way we can join forces and stand together to help Mother Earth. The sole purpose of Operation Squeegee is to raise funds and awareness for the National Wildlife Federation.

Tidal Shoreland decided to get involved and created Operation Squeegee as a way to inspire us all to help make a difference. Turning back the hands of time is not an option but with Your help

As promised, some major changes have been going on here at Wilder Public Relations Firm.

Perhaps the biggest change you may have noticed is the newest edition of our website. I have been wanting to update the website for a while, and I am so glad Annette gave me the opportunity to do it. You will notice our front page now displays our current events information and a link to our calendar. One of my main goals with this redesign was to make all of this information more readily available to our clients, those who follow us, and our new visitors, and I think the new layout really accomplishes that.

Another new feature you may have noticed is the “Follow Us” section. We have recently joined Avatars United and Plurk in an effort to become more connected with our community. Veronica is heading up this new focus, and together she and Annette have done a wonderful job of getting both our profiles off the ground. I hope any of you using these tools will be sure to add us to your contacts: we'd love to share all of the great things happening here, and we'd be delighted to keep up with all of you!

I'm very pleased with the way that the site turned out, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who has taken the time to compliment us on it. It was a pleasure to create, and your praise has been most gratifying. We are hoping to launch WilderWeb soon, and I hope that any of you who need help with your own websites will consider us.

Amidst all of this, we are also working on our venture into radio with Wilder Radio. Check back often for details on this exciting new expansion of our media reach. In addition, we are still looking for summer interns to help in our office. Angel Dessous...shining stars of the Month!

Both April and May have been huge for Angel Dessous. Wilder PR was fortunate enough to work with this fabulous team again in April on a campaign that was a gigantic success and now here we are in May and something else great has happened for Angel Dessous. Nando Korobase is the designer of the month for Glance International Magazine and Leandra Breen is the model of the month. We at Wilder PR are so proud of these two wonderful people. They deserve these awards both Nando and Leandra work very hard to make Angel Dessous one of the top brands within SL. Even with all their hard work they both still find the time to remain kind and a pleasure to work for.

Leandra said they feel some of the reason they won this honor is due to the work that Wilder PR did for them, we are honored to hear that she feels this way. Working with them is definitely something we here at Wilder adore and we look forward to doing more things with the Angel Dessous team! Congratulations Lea and Nando and we are sure they will be many more awesome awards and honors to come your way.

As Ansleigh previously stated we have many new changes coming up so be sure to keep watch over the blog and the website to find out more information. We now welcome onboard Siara Lorefield who will be our German translation specialist. Thanks to Siara, Wilder PR can begin to take on more wonderful German speaking clientele. Siara will translate important paperwork and information for German clients who are not comfortable with English or who would prefer using their native language when conducting business. I am proud to announce that our wonderful assistant Veronica Ogleby has completed her training and is now a full fledged member of the Wilder team!

Veronica has shown considerable determination, drive, and talent through her first few months with us at Wilder Public Relations. She has been instrumental in our PR campaigns this year and we could not be happier to have her with us.

In other news, we are in the process of coming up with some great new ideas, so you should be sure to check back soon for details on some awesome new projects we'll be working on in the coming months.

Working with her for this year has been wonderful and I'm looking forward to the next one! Ansleigh is always professional and always comes to work with a smile on her face. March 21st to the 28th Wilder PR will be closed for spring break. Upon our return we will start to meet with potential new clients and begin PR jobs again. I would like to thank all our clients for this past year. We have worked non-stop with only a week or so off in between from February 2009 to February 2010. This week Wilder Public Relations prepares to bid farewell to our client Potnia Theas, and residents grid-wide prepare to see the end of one of the most innovative and creative brands in Second Life.

Ora Trei Designs will close its doors Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Until then, Potnia has placed everything in the main store at a price of $L100 or less as a thank you to her customers. We hope you’ll visit her fabulous sim one last time to show her your support and to say goodbye.

Potnia Theas has accomplished much during her time in Second Life. She was introduced to this virtual world via a real-life friend and almost immediately set out to make something of herself. After acquainting herself with the platform and learning about the many different facets that make it so versatile, Potnia made her first foray into fashion with the clothing line “Urban Funeral”.

With its unique urban gothic and Harajuku styled designs, Urban Funeral brought Potnia her first taste of success. During this time, Potnia also completed her associate’s degree in real life. Riding high on successes in both lives, Potnia decided to challenge herself to creating a more couture SL label.

Thus, in February of 2009, Ora Trei Designs was born. Since then, Potnia has worked tirelessly to provide residents of Second Life with stunning, cutting edge designs in a wide array of styles and themes. There is something for everyone at Ora Trei, and Potnia, along with her executive director Kat Msarko, have made the service and satisfaction of their customers top priority. With a special VIP section with discounted fashions, weekly gifts for group members, and sales and hunts, Ora Trei’s loyal consumer base has been well tended. Potnia acknowledges that it is her supporters that make her a success, and that the consideration she gives them serves to enrich her designs.

Ora Trei is Romanian for 3 O’clock, and Potnia has described this as a reference to time and trinity and relates it to the traits of perseverance, practice, and patience, which she rates highly. Her work is the embodiment of these traits and her attention to them has clearly paid off, as evidenced by the many awards and honors Potnia has received in her short career.

Though this may be the end of Ora Trei, it is merely the beginning for Potnia and the wonderful things she has yet to accomplish. Ever growing, Potnia now turns her attentions to the real life ambitions of furthering her education and career. Second Life has been fortunate to see a small portion of Potnia’s talent through her designs in-world, and we know that this only foreshadows the great things she will accomplish in the future. We wish her the best of luck in all she does, and we are confident that she will be successful in anything she puts her fabulous mind to.

Potnia acknowledges that it is her supporters that make her a success, and that the consideration she gives them serves to enrich her designs. Ora Trei is Romanian for 3 O’clock, and Potnia has described this as a reference to time and trinity and relates it to the traits of perseverance, practice, and patience, which she rates highly.Her work is the embodiment of these traits and her attention to them has clearly paid off, as evidenced by the many awards and honors Potnia has received in her short career.

Though this may be the end of Ora Trei, it is merely the beginning for Potnia and the wonderful things she has yet to accomplish. Ever growing, Potnia now turns her attentions to the real life ambitions of furthering her education and career. Second Life has been fortunate to see a small portion of Potnia’s talent through her designs in-world, and we know that this only foreshadows the great things she will accomplish in the future. We wish her the best of luck in all she does, and we are confident that she will be successful in anything she puts her fabulous mind to. The talent and creativity of our many clients never has and never will cease to amaze me. The proof of the magnitude of their efforts shows everywhere: their sales, their group followings, and their undying fans. One of the greatest examples we’ve had the pleasure to work with is the most amazing Mami Jewell.

Her brand AZUL has risen to grid-wide notoriety in an extremely impressive and extremely short amount of time. Don’t think this has anything to do with luck or coincidence however; everything Mami has achieved has been due to a fierce tenacity and ambition. At Wilder, we pride ourselves on having these exact same qualities, which is why we are so pleased that Mami has chosen us as her PR partner.

It was a little over a year ago that Mami came to us to promote the opening of her sim and her AZUL mainstore. Mami studied with the gifted edo Tone, of Styles of edo. After learning the tricks of the trade, Mami quickly proved that she was unique among formal wear designers in Second Life. Her detailed designs and exquisite prim work give testament to her passion for her profession. Mami launched her brand and fashionistas across the grid took notice.

Ever humble, Mami is constantly giving back to the Second Life community, donating to amazing causes, and helping her fellow residents. Wilder Public Relations has had the pleasure of forming many new acquaintances and forging many new business relationships at the suggestion of Ms. Jewell. Her generosity lies not only among her business contacts, however. Mami is an avid participant in Relay for Life of Second Life and many other causes, including her current efforts to raise money for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti through a special edition gown at her store.

If it is true that the more one gives the more one receives, then Mami is certainly proves it. While she has been busy helping others and giving SL some of the best couture creations around, residents all around have been showing their appreciation. Mami has enjoyed a large following of fashion savvy shoppers who have helped her brand rise to its current level of success. In this short year, Mami has launched a bridal line, expanded her sim and created stunning designs worn by many prestigious residents around SL, including Miss Virtual World 2009 and three finalists for Miss Virtual World 2010.

The crowning jewel (no pun intended) of Mami’s inspiring career came early this year when AZUL was named VAIN Magazine’s Reader’s Choice for Best Female Formal Wear of 2010. This award shows Mami’s distinction in her field and her customers’ appreciation. Never one to dwell on her own success, Mami immediately set out to show thanks to her supporters by holding her first ever sale this past weekend. The sale was a huge success, with Mami adding an additional 800 members to her group over the course of the two day event.

We at Wilder Public Relations are proud to have Mami as one of our clients not only because of her extreme business savvy and truly incredible products, but because she embodies the characteristics that we value in our organization: dedication, ambition, loyalty, and humanity. A Year of Bliss

As Wilder Public Relations Firm marks its second anniversary and we move into a fresh new year, we take a moment to stop and reflect on the wonderful success of these past twelve months. We celebrate our clients and their accomplishments and are so grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute.

In 2009, Wilder PR assisted with the launch of several new stores and lines, from +grasp+ by Asalt Eames to the AZUL Bridal Line to the C.Smit Lounge to Kira Paderborn’s “Eva” Skin. We promoted sales and hunts for clients like TOMOZOO Lomu and Potnia Theas. We publicized many wonderful fashion shows such as that put on by our friends and clients at the Narkissos Sim. Wilder Public Relations is fortunate enough to have too many clients to mention here, but we do offer our sincerest thanks and congratulations to each and every one of them: we are proud to provide the PR for your events and wish you the best of luck as we embark on 2010.

Perhaps the most frequent client of 2009 was Amutey DeCuir of Bliss Couture. In the past year, we completed five PR campaigns for Bliss Couture, all with great success. Amutey was already an up and coming designer in Second Life when she first came to us in April to promote her Spring Fashion Show. I was still pretty green at Wilder, having only started working here in March, and there was just something magical about that show. This was the first campaign I really got to work on, and, from the minute I visited the sim, I was in love. The show was a success, and I still remember my wonderment at all of the people in attendance, people I had helped get there, who were all so stunned by Amutey’s wonderful work. Little did we know at that time that this fantastic show was only the beginning of a great adventure for Wilder PR and Bliss Couture.

It was at the end of June that Amutey came to us again, this time with her concept of the Miss Bliss Couture 2010 Competition, and in early July we were proud to help her get the word out to the many ladies of Second Life about this wonderful opportunity. Again, our efforts were met with great success, and Amutey ended up with over three hundred hopefuls vying for a chance to be the face of her brand.

Amutey had been in business some time and her already healthy group membership enjoyed an influx as a result of the Miss Bliss Couture Competition. Soon, we at Wilder were happy to hear that she was planning a summer sale to celebrate a combined 10,000 members in her subscribe-o-matic and in-world groups. In late July, we were thrilled to accept her request to publicize this fantastic event. Amutey literally had people waiting to get into her sim when she temporarily closed it prior to the event. To say that this sale was a hit would be an egregious understatement. This was something for the record books, a definite high point for Wilder PR, and something not soon forgotten in Second Life. The Bliss Couture main store saw constant traffic and Amutey’s in-world group gained another 1,100 members in only the first week.

Summer turned to fall and fall to winter as Amutey went through the several phases of her Miss Bliss Couture 2010 Competition, whittling down the entries as we neared the final event and the beginning of a new year. In the blink on an eye, it was December and she came to us for PR for Bliss Couture’s 2009 Holiday Sale and Hunt. This sale was every bit as successful as the last, with Second Life’s beautiful ladies enjoying the discounts as they shopped for their winter formals and holiday ball gowns. The event was a lovely end to a great year.

This past weekend, Annette and I, along with our brand new assistant Veronica Ogleby, were happy to be in attendance at the final event for Miss Bliss Couture 2010. Over one hundred and forty people came out to see this beautiful show held at the PATCH THIBAUD AUDITORIUM. This show was truly amazing. Caymon Zhora, Bliss Couture’s general manager, and the entire Bliss Couture team ensured that the show was the best it could possibly be. As the finalists graced the runway, I felt the same pride and wonder as I did at that first show in April, and I felt truly blessed to be a part of such a fabulous event. This was Veronica’s first event with Wilder PR, and Annette and I couldn’t be prouder of how well she did. In her excitement and enthusiasm for this show, I saw a bit of myself, and I was glad that her first event was a Bliss Couture show too. We hope that this is only the first of many Veronica will attend with us.

And just as we are pleased to have Veronica as a new part of the Wilder Team, Amutey and Bliss Couture were thrilled to finally crown Miss Bliss Couture 2010, Melanie Sautereau.

Melanie shined amongst the many dazzling finalists and charmed both audience and judges alike with her confidence, poise, style, and beauty. We at Wilder Public Relations offer Melanie our most enthusiastic congratulations and cannot wait to see her represent Bliss Couture this year.

Though this show marked the end of a months long competition, it was also the celebration of the beginning of a bright new year for everyone at Bliss Couture. Amutey now has Melanie as the face of Bliss Couture and is looking forward to the opening of her beautiful new store, and we cannot wait to see the many new designs she is sure to show us. Amutey never ceases to amaze us with her creativity, thoughtfulness, or friendship. We are truly blessed to have her as a client and look forward to growing with her as she continues to thrive in Second Life.

We hope you find luck in all of your endeavors this coming year, and we look forward to seeing many wonderful things from our clients, but also the new and exciting things 2010 will bring. Join us today January 9th at 11am for the crowning of Miss Bliss Couture 2010. It is only fitting that the Miss Bliss Couture event be this huge considering the largely successful year that the Bliss Couture clothing line has had in 2009. The highly anticipated event has finally arrived and will be held at the beautifully designed PATCH THIBAUD AUDITORIUM, the exact location of Miss Virtual World and other fabulous in-world events. After months of narrowing down the large sum of contestants, we are down to 20 finalists who eagerly await the news to find out which one of them will have the honor of being named Miss Bliss Couture 2010! The final 20 will be judged on casual and formal wear and we are sure it will not be easy choosing one winner. As the ladies grace the catwalk the music will be brought to you by the one and only DJ AZU (Azufr3 Catteneo).

It has truly been a long journey for the gorgeous ladies that began July 2009. Each woman who felt she had what it took to represent Bliss Couture sent in her entry with hopes that she would become the "face" of this top clothing brand. Along with being the "face" of Bliss Couture ( which involves appearing in most vendor ads for new clothing, exclusively modeling print and magazine ads) the winner will also be interviewed in the top SL fashion magazine BOSL, receive an invitation to the prestigious Boulevard Agency, will receive a specially designed diamond jewelry set from Alyssa Bijoux, be given all future Bliss Couture releases throughout her one year reign, and be awarded $10,000L Cash Prize. With prizes of this magnitude it is easy to see why so many chose to be part of this fabulous contest.

Amutey Decuir, owner of Bliss Couture, has had quite a time going from 350 contestants to the final 20. The judges who will be helping her judge this final round are: Frolic Mills (CEO of BOSL & CO), edo Tone (Owner of Styles of edo), Breezie Noel (Managing Editor of BOSL Magazine), Mui Mukerji (SL Supermodel and Style Consultant). The event will be hosted by two lovely ladies Ansleigh Beverly (Manager of Wilder Public Relations), and Caymon Zhora (Manager of Bliss Couture).
